Mount Alvernia College
Master Plan
Established by the Missionary Franciscan Sisters in 1956, Mount Alvernia College’s Master Plan brings the Franciscan ethos to life through a campus organised around three gardens—La Foresta (a productive garden), the Parkland (a space for community gathering and caring for Country), and the Garden for Recreation.
With buildings that are deliberately deferential—framing and supporting the gardens for flora and fauna rather than dominating them—the campus reflects the Franciscan values of simplicity, stewardship of creation, and holistic education.
