There is a famous saying used to dismiss the validity of critique: "writing about music is like dancing about architecture." But what if we actually did dance about architecture?

m3architecture are inviting a selected group of Australia’s leading contemporary artists, filmmakers, writers, poets, musicians, and others, to create new art in response to our work.

Architecture is typically interpreted, documented and disseminated with photography, a method that is already idealised, is already a fiction, even as it presents as objective and definitive. However this convention often can’t represent many of the building’s critical spatial, temporal, emotional, cultural, or conceptual qualities. Often it can't represent the 'spirit' of the building.

The Translations project broadens and deepens the practice’s active cultural and social engagement. It fosters collaboration and new connections. It promotes alternative ways of creating and responding to architecture. It promotes a critique of the architecture and its context, opening possibilities for alternative realities. It creates a diversity of creative expression, embracing a diversity of voices.
